CULTURE OF ADORNMENT
AND DECORATION
Make A Scene’s Tipat and Silver collection is inspired by the ancestral Indonesian
‘Ketupat’ weaving technique. A shift from large scale installations and objects to more delicate creation of adornment and body decoration.
“During Covid when there were no work commissions forthcoming, we had to dig deep to preserve our creativity and ensure our time wasn’t wasted”

DESIGNER INSPIRATION
Simple versions of small ‘tipats’ can be found amongst ceremonial decorations made by Balinese women on a daily basis. MAS’ highly skilled team of artisans have paid homage to this intricate method of weaving, precise cutting and shaping of the lontar leaf by combining it with sterling silver to create intricate, contemporary pieces of sustainable, wearable art.
